Summary:
Funding the Alaska Pest Management Program (APMP) Information Network proposal will assure fifth and sixth-year continuation of: 1) the APMP webpage (alaskapestmanagement.com); 2) network and critical issue collaboration and coordination between intra- and interstate stakeholders on USDA and USEPA related pest management issues, including pesticide use and usage; 3) a primary resource for all pesticide and pest management related information statewide in Alaska; and 4) the coordination of participants in local and regional activities such as Crop Profile development, Pest Management Strategic Plans, and IPM tactics surveys.
Objectives: To meet the goals of the WIPM Center and the Alaska Information Network, the following objectives are proposed for the next fiscal year of funding: 1.Serve as the primary information source for USDA regarding use and usage of pesticides and other IPM tactics in all IPM settings in Alaska. 2.Partner with Regional Information Coordinator (Jane Thomas) to support a regional information network that can respond to information requests from USDA, EPA, and others within a short time frame. 3.Utilize local and regional meetings and other forms of communication with diverse groups of stakeholders to identify critical IPM issues in Alaska. 4.Maintain and continuously update a web site for the Alaska Information Network. 5.Utilize identified individuals and organizations to address IPM tactics use surveys, crop profiles, and Pest Management Strategic Plans (PMSPs). |
