Summary:

Objectives: 2004 SNP Progress Report

* Reviewed IPM Work Groups priorities, determine two areas of common programs and priorities (Sweet Corn PMSP, Community IPM Workshop)

* Advisory Committee meeting -- April 26, 2004

* Developed process for determining sequence of crop profile development timing determined by PA-NASS schedule of crop

* Developed an Advisory Committee Mailing list

* Community IPM Work Group - Assisted in conference planning

* Attended IPM Vegetable Work Group Meeting

* At the request of the PDA Pesticide Advisory Board, developed a fact sheet highlighting regulations regarding repackaging bulk pesticides

* Attended National State Pesticide Information Retrieval System annual meeting

* Worked cooperatively with Erick DeWolf to for committee of Penn State Specialists and Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) specialists to for an action committee for Soybean Rust response

* Worked cooperatively with Erick DeWolf, Penn State Plant Pathologist and representatives of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) to form a communications network for information dissemination to grower in the event of a soybean rust outbreak in Pennsylvania.

* Worked cooperatively with Erik DeWolf and John Lake to complete the necessary paperwork to process Section 18 requests for products that can be utilized by growers in the event that soybean rust becomes a pest problem in the Commonwealth

* Distributed Soybean Pest Alert to over 20,000 private pesticide applicators in cooperation with PDA Private Applicator Newsletter

* Forwarded electronic messages regarding funding opportunities

* Forwarded electronic messages regarding regulatory decisions and input requests

* Attended PDA Pesticide Advisory Board meetings

* Appointed to the National Certification Training and Assessment Group

* Attended Northeastern IPM Center Meeting -- October 14, 2004

* Participated in discussions with Syngenta and PDA regarding a new carpet cleaning product also contains a pest control product and the potential issues regarding need for certification of those who would use the product

* Cooperated with a member of the Dairy and Animal Science to develop, present and distribute educational materials regarding the process of pesticide registration and residue monitoring

* Electronically distributed information regarding improved method of accessing pesticide product information that would facilitate access to Worker Protection, State Registration, Mode of Action and other critical information.

* Participated in EPA conference calls regarding product regulatory decision making to provide input from Penn State commodity specialist.

* Electronically disseminated regulatory decision making, and funding opportunities as appropriate to approximately through a mail (list) serve to approximately 250 agricultural researchers, extension specialists, extension agents (which are now referred to as extension educators at Penn State), and members of the regulatory community.
