Summary:
Objectives: Project timeline Meeting of Advisory Committee: Early Spring/Fall 2005 Review of IWG's priorities and their benefits to the state May 2005 Review of NASS/PASS IPM Tactics/Pesticide Use Survey June 2005 Completion of any supplemental surveys as necessary July 2005 Crop Profiles available for advisory committee and grower review August 2005 Educational materials available for advisory committee review September 2005 Enumerator training for IPM Tactics/Pesticide Use Survey October 2005 Review of mail lists and membership of advisory committee Ongoing Completion of new and revised crop profiles December 2005 Attend relevant meetings and present information Ongoing Develop at least 3 newsletter articles and three educational materials Ongoing Review of FQPA and other regulatory decisions Ongoing Revise website to reflect new projects and databases Ongoing as information becomes available Response to requests from regulatory-decision makers regarding IPM practices or pesticide use Ongoing Dissemination of regulatory decisions and other pertinent information through electronic and other media Ongoing Interaction with Northeastern IWGs Ongoing on an as needed basis Providing detailed accounting reports regarding funding to other receiving support under this RFA Monthly/on and as needed basis 2005 SNP Progress Report * Worked cooperatively with Northeast IPM Work Groups to meet established priorities. For example, served on the committee to coordinate the Northeast Community IPM workshop and participated in the Vegetable IPM workgroup priority discussions. * Input from members of the PEPAC Advisory Committee helped to determine priorities for PMIC activities. These meetings were held in April and October of 2005 * Worked cooperatively with Erick DeWolf, Penn State plant pathologists, and representatives of the PDA to form a communications network for information dissemination to grower in the event of a soybean rust outbreak in Pennsylvania * Worked cooperatively with Erik DeWolf and John Lake to complete the necessary paperwork to process Section 18 requests for products that can be used by growers in the event that soybean rust becomes a pest problem in the Commonwealth * Financially supported the distribution of over 2,000Soybean Rust Fact Sheets to soybean producer stakeholders * Forwarded electronic messages regarding funding opportunities * Forwarded electronic messages regarding regulatory decisions and input requests to stakeholders and specialists via an electronic list serve, In addition, forwarded responses to requests for information to Pat Hastings upon request. * Attended PDA Pesticide Advisory Board meetings * Continue to serve on the National Certification Training and Assessment Group * Electronically distributed information regarding improved method of accessing pesticide product information that would facilitate access to Worker Protection, State Registration, Mode of Action, and other critical information * Participated in EPA conference calls regarding product regulatory decision making to provide input from Penn State commodity specialist * Facilitate the participation of Pennsylvania Extension educators and specialists in the Pink Hybiscus Mealybug, training presented by the USDA-CSREES, USDA-APHIS, the National Plant Diagnostic Network, and the Regional IPM Centers at least 6 locations. * Electronically disseminated regulatory decision making and funding opportunities as appropriate to approximately through a mail (list) serve to approximately 250 agricultural researchers, extension specialists, extension agents (which are now referred to as extension educators at Penn State), and members of the regulatory community. |
