Outcomes
The PowerPoint presentation, Safe and Beautiful Yards: Making Smart Pest Management Decisions, consists of 54 slides and a script, provided in the form of speaker notes within the PowerPoint presentation. The presentation addresses general principles of IPM. Master Gardeners can use the presentation in its original form or adapt the presentation to specific needs, depending on their audience and specific pests.

The brochure, Creating Safe and Beautiful Yards, presents best management practices / IPM practices for home gardens, lawns, and landscapes and will concentrate on simple approaches that could be adopted by home gardeners for situations prevailing in the Northeast. Among others, concepts include the importance of identifying pests; using thresholds to determine whether control is necessary; using pest control strategies that are least toxic to humans, beneficials, and the environment; and the importance of reading the label if a pesticide is chosen.
Impacts
Home gardeners received training on IPM and pesticide safety. Through the surveys, home gardeners' attitudes on IPM and their adoption of IPM and best pesticide handling practices were assessed. Results will be published in a peer-reviewed journal in 2010.
