Objectives: 2004 Progress Report from 2005 Proposal

IPM Tactics Surveys, Crop Profiles, and Pest Management Strategic Plans (PMSPs)

* In cooperation with commodity specialists developed a supplemental survey to identify management practices of sweet corn producers. This supplemental survey was funded by outside monies solicited by the PA Center. The information will be used to support the development of the Northeast Regional Sweet Corn PMSP and a revision of the existing sweet corn crop profile.

* Developed training materials and provide training for PA-NASS enumerators who conducted pesticide use surveys for pumpkins, sweet corn and snap beans.

* Cooperated with others in the Northeast Region to plan, coordinate, facilitate and develop a Sweet Corn PMSP.

* In cooperation with American Mushroom Institute broadened the focus group to gather addition input for the Mushroom PMSP.

* Developed pesticide safety section and reviewed pesticide recommendations for the Mid-Atlantic Berry Production Guide.

* Completed data collection of approximately 1,400 home owners for a Consumer Pest Management Survey.

* Provided newsletter articles for Commercial/Public and Private applicator newsletters.

* Presented twelve grower updates the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) and how their input in PA-NASS surveys can help provide valuable information for the decision making process.

* Electronically disseminated information regarding the Section 18 for products to control Soybean Rust in the event that it becomes a pest problem in Pennsylvania.

* Electronically disseminated requests for information and input regarding regulatory decisions, and when decisions were made disseminated information regarding those decisions.

* Updated PA Center Website as necessary as information becomes available.

* Provided funds for specialists to attend PMSP and other related meetings.

* Developed and disseminate FQPA educational materials, power point presentations, and hands-on activities for secondary agricultural and general science educators. Conducted in-service training to familiarize instructors in the delivery of materials.
