Summary: Organic and IPM proponents share many concerns and interests in improving impacts of food production on environmental and human health. Despite these common goals, IPM and organic leaders have few occasions to share thoughts, ideas and resources. The Organic and IPM Working Group's goal is to synergize the efforts of these two communities by building partnerships, fostering dialogue between diverse stakeholders, exchanging information and knowledge, and collaboratively identifying and working towards shared priorities. We aim to achieve our goal by maintaining a curated and facilitated platform that encourages participation across disciplines, organizations and geographies. Renewed funding for the Organic and IPM Working Group will enable us to host monthly conference calls, two in-person meetings, maintain a website to share resources, identify common priorities, assist with planning the Organic Agriculture Research Symposium, and conduct presentations on the work of the group at national conferences. The group's outputs will support the North Central IPM Center's goals of improving understanding of current and emerging IPM and organic management issues, as well as increasing collaboration among diverse stakeholders, scientists and professionals working to address priorities common to organic and IPM in the North Central region and nationally. If funded, the Organic and IPM Working Group will continue its mission of strengthening the alliance between organic and IPM communities to promote adoption of IPM practices and enhance food security in the North Central region and nationally.

Objectives: 1. Coordinate monthly Organic and IPM Working Group conference calls. Maintain an updated website and listserv.
2. Host two in-person Working Group Meetings, one preceding the annual NOFA Summer Conference and another preceding 2017 MOSES Organic Farming Conference. We will develop a formal agenda for the meeting and publish the meeting proceedings on the working group website.
3. Update, maintain and communicate priorities for research, education and outreach that mutually benefit organic and IPM. Priority-ranking survey will be distributed to stakeholders in organic and IPM communities. Data collected from the survey will be analyzed, and priorities will be updated to reflect ranking results which will be posted on the Working Group website.
4. Participate in the priority-setting process for IR-4's Biopesticide and Organic Support Program. We will provide direct feedback to IR-4 project directors on how to better address the research needs of Organic and IPM communities. Working group representatives will attend the regional and national IR-4 meetings and participate in the voting process.
5. Assist with planning, coordinating and facilitating the 2017 Organic Agriculture Research Symposium (OARS) conference. We will help plan the program, participate in review of abstracts of presentation submissions and attend the event to present on Organic and IPM Synergies as we did in 2015. We will promote the event by sharing details on our website and project listserv.
6. Conduct joint presentations at national meetings/conferences about the goals and accomplishments of the working group. Presentations will address the importance of creating synergies between the organic and IPM communities and will include recommendations from the collaborative white paper completed in 2015. At least one presentation will be made in the NC region.
